Scars and Stars

Welcome to Scars and Stars
ABOUT ME

After thinking about creating a blog site for many years, I finally decided to start one. The poems and other writings that I post on this site are extremely personal and I questioned myself many times whether I should actually go through with it. And, with the help from an amazing person who recently came into my life, I’ve decided to go for it.
I’ve struggled with depression and anxiety for most of my life, starting as a little girl. I always felt “different” from my peers. I’ve also experienced a few traumatic events in my life and this new person who came into my life is helping me cope with and release my depression, anxiety and these traumas once and for all. It is BEYOND time.
I’d like to point out that I researched poetry styles and lyrical poetry spoke to me the loudest. Not surprisingly, lyrical poetry began in ancient Greece, designed to express the speaker’s personal emotions and feelings and to be read aloud with old-school instruments likes harps and lyres. Perhaps I was drawn to this style due to my passion for music, which also started at a very young age.
I’ve been an avid reader since I was five and I’ve written countless journals throughout my life, which I still have. I’m finally getting back into journaling, writing and creating art to help me release painful experiences – and also celebrate new, joyful ones – as I continue my journey of self-healing and positive self-awareness.
I’ll also post my artwork and posts about music – shows I’ve seen, etc., to share my love and lifelong passion for music and live shows.
Even if I reach one person who struggles with the same afflictions, it will be worth it to me.
I’ve poured my blood, sweat and MANY tears into these writings and artwork. I hope you enjoy them.
From scars to stars, I love you all to the moon and to Saturn.
Hearts and Stars,
Kerri, aka Kiki
